100 tables of 1000 people packed into the beautifully decorated Magellan Ballroom, themed blue and silver on July 23rd night. The evening started with a flash mob. A young working adult's solitary voice broke the buzz in the air and caught the audience and guests by total surprise. Audible gasps were heard as singers appeared from tables scattered in the front to blend in with the song and add volume to the singing. Soon everyone joined in, then the dancers appeared and so the tenth anniversary banquet began with a bang!
What a wonderful evening with the Kidszone puting on a colourful theme of fruits and ribbons woven into a story about standing up for Jesus in school. The food was fanastic and the fellowship grand; the lip dub video made Skyliners laugh; we saw ourselves and the various ministres woven into the wonderful lyrics and beat of How Awesome is the Lord Most High! After short speeches by Ps Philip Lyn and Ps Jerry Dusing (Presidentof SIB, Sabah), there a trio came on stage to render two beautifully harmonised songs, one the old time favourite: "My Jesus I love Thee".
Then evangelist Tony Anthony of "Taming the Tiger" fame presented one of the most succint, cogently articulated version of the gospel we have ever heard. He had us riveted to our seats by his testimony of being once in the world of martial arts and later the underworld before he gave his life to Christ. Over 100 decisions were made: 93 rededication of lives and 10 salvations!
The evening eneded at 10.20pm with a finale of the Awesome is the Lord Most High once again with the young adults, and youth leading us on stage as we all joined us in a celebratory cheers. To God be the Glory! It was a woderful fruitful and memorable 10th Anniversary Evening. We won't forget this for a long time Skyline!
