Dorothy and her husband were working in Hong Kong for the past 10 years, but had always wanted to move back to Kota Kinabalu to settle down. In 2019, Hong Kong experienced much political unrest, so her husband quit his job and they moved back to KK in 2020. It was at that very time that Covid-19 had just hit Malaysia.
On top of being unable to find job opportunities in KK related to their professions and being pregnant, Dorothy and her husband were led to give in faith during Faith Promise Day despite their financial struggles.
