Faith Story by Rainbow Ma Rong
Skyline is my home in KK.
I am Rainbow from Xi’an, China, a mom accompanying my child for studies. My son was in 7th grade in Xi’an when I got the idea for him to study English in Malaysia. God truly works in mysterious ways. An opportunity arose where a friend connected me with her friend in KK. Thank the Lord; it was God’s provision and guidance. All the procedures were completed smoothly.
From the initial decision to landing in KK, it took just over two months. This made me understand: “I can do all this through him who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:13).
Our God is not a God of delay! God used His wonderful ways to provide the best for me, because I firmly believe all good things come from Him.
Next, I want to share that at Skyline, I experienced so many ‘firsts’ in my life that I want to share with everyone.
· Jan 2, 2023: I set foot on the land of KK.
· Jan 9, 2023: My son’s school started.
It was my first time in KK, and I stayed in a hotel while looking for a house. Since I had no friends, the moment I returned home after dropping off my child and closed the door, I felt particularly lonely and sad inside.
I cried and prayed to God: “Lord, I see so many churches with crosses here in KK, but I don’t know which one I should go to that aligns with Your will. Lord, You know my temperament and personality, and You know which church suits me. Lord, please lead me to the church You approve of, the church that pleases You.” I believe God is the one who makes a way in the wilderness, streams in the wasteland, and causes floods to become dry land; He will give us the best answer.
And so I continually called out to God, often using Isaiah 40:31 – “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint” – to remind myself to keep praying. Until…
· Dec 2, 2023: I met my cell group leader, Janice (thank you, my leader!), who has been warmly and lovingly accompanying me. Her daughter invited my son to her birthday party. Janice gave me a feeling of warmth, hospitality, and enthusiasm. Later, she invited me to a Christmas gathering.
· Dec 8, 2023: Christmas gathering at Joanna’s house. That night, the moment my son and I entered the door, we were instantly surrounded by love because God’s love was present. It still warms my heart today, something I will never forget for the rest of my life. Thank the Lord for leading me into our cell group. My husband and I love our cell group very much; we have never been absent.
· Dec 10, 2023: I attended Sunday service for the first time. It was the last Sunday service at Sutera Harbour. I vividly remember Pastor Joseph preaching and Joanna leading worship. As I stood there, tears streamed down my face. My heart was full of thanks to the Heavenly Father for bringing me home; I felt like an orphan returning home.
· Dec 17, 2023: It was the first day Skyline gathered at the Sky Arena. I clearly remember: as the worship music started, my tears flowed down like unstrung pearls, and I couldn’t stop thanking God in my heart. I said to God: “God, in Xi’an, I didn’t have a church. Here in a foreign country, You have prepared such a magnificent and grand church for me, a spiritual home.”

Thank the Lord. The Lord allowed me to catch the end and encounter the beginning; all blessings are found in God’s love, overflowing. The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
· Oct 22, 2024: Filled out a serving card at Skyline Night.
· Nov 3, 2024: Started serving refreshments. Everyone has a spirit of unity, willing giving, and loving intentionally.
I deeply know: God is with me. He is my Heavenly Father. He knows the loneliness and anguish in my heart. Isaiah 49:15 says, “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!”
Thank God, He cares for me. According to my needs, He gave me a spiritual home. In this home, I have the care and love of my zone leader Amanda, cell group leader Janice, our cell group members, and even more brothers and sisters at Skyline, making us feel loved and cared for, experiencing warmth in a foreign land.
All this is because God is love, and He loved me first. Therefore, carrying God’s love, I share the gospel with others, so that those around me may know the Lord Jesus and receive salvation. Currently, four of my friends have accepted the Lord. All glory to my God!

May we all be built up in God’s family. May each of us have a willing heart to be used by God. May we overcome difficulties by relying on Him, experience His love more deeply, know Him, and thank Him. I want to end with this word from God:
Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.. instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. (Ephesians 4:2-3, 15-16)
Bless the Lord O my soul and forget not all His benefits:
Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases,
Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies.
