Faith Story by Melissa Koh
Recently, I was selected to participate in a running competition at school. I was so excited and did my best in the first two rounds of selection, and I won both! But in the third round, my teacher asked me to compete with the upper primary students, which was a different category. I tried my best, but I lost. I was really upset because I really wanted to be selected.
On the way home, my dad and I talked about how it seemed unfair. He suggested that I could still ask the teacher to include me as a spare runner; just in case any of the selected runners got sick or couldn’t participate. The next day, when the teacher assembled all the students to announce the final list of selected runners, I said a prayer before she started. I asked God to help me, and then I waited.
When the teacher finally announced the names, I couldn’t believe it—my name was called! Not only was I selected, but I was the only one chosen to participate in two events!
And guess what? In those events, I won a gold medal and a silver medal!
Through this experience, I learned that God is always good, and He listens to our prayers. Even when things seem unfair or difficult, we shouldn’t stop or give up. We need to keep trusting and praying, because God has a plan for each of us, and He will work things out in His perfect timing.
